Block Central--Hands down, this is one of the best places on the 'Net to find free quilt/block patterns. In addition, there's a monthly newsletter, mystery quilts, free EQ projects, and a Block of the Month series.
The Quilter's Cache--Marcia's generosity has led her to put a wealth of quilt blocks on the 'Net. Marcia writes her own directions, and in many cases, the blocks are her originals. Sit back with your favorite beverage and prepare to spend hours browsing this site. |

Barbara's Quilt World--This site from Norway not only provides
paper piecing patterns, but also EQ3 and EQ4 projects ready to
download. Barbara has nice links too.
BOM Quilts -- links to oodles and oodles of Block of the Month quilts are gathered here for your convenience. BOM's are a great way to improve your skills or try something new without committing to a big quilt. Do a few blocks and make a table runner or pillows, or keep coming back to make the beautiful quilts so many of these sites feature.
Cheryl's Web Page -- This is probably the definitive site for links to paper-piecing patterns. Patterns are organized alphabetically, and the site is updated regularly. No dead links
on this page!
Crazy Quilt Central -- lots of links here to other pages as
well as FAQs and plenty of eye candy; this site is well worth a
stop if you are at all interested in this Victorian art form.

Home Of The Web -- BOMs are here, along with a nice swap page and plenty of block patterns. The Browse feature is very nice, and the pattern index loads quickly.
Free Applique Patterns - ready to
print and sew! -- There are some really cute county/primitive designs at this website. Many of these designs are created to embellish a purchased shirt or sweatshirt. The designs should work just as well in wool for a pretty wallhanging or table topper.
Lucy A. Fazely's Free Quilt Patterns -- These are free patterns from designer Lucy Fazely. You may also access the commercial pages of her website for books, patterns, fabrics, and notions.
New Life Creations-- Several BOMs and mystery quilts here,but the best part of this site is the quilting designs. You can save them, then print them out to whatever size you need to fit
your quilt. These are nice, traditional designs which go well on most anything.
One Day Quilt Frenzy -- archive of some of the "Frenz" patterns; these are good for charity quilts, as they work up so quickly.
Patchwork et Boutons: The cat after the manner of ... -- The patterns on this page are based on a design challenge. If you like cats, do check out this page.

Paper Piecing Patterns by Ginger -- lots of nice patterns here in Ginger's favorite 6" size; some are traditional, some are pictorial (really cute kitties). Ginger has nice links page for pp addicts.
PatchPieces by Patti R. Anderson -- Patti has her own patterns and some really useful information. Need to figure setting triangles? She has the info. She also has online lessons which teach advanced drawing skills for EQ. All patterns are in both Adobe's .pdf format and regular .html format. Patti has a really nice links page with links to Quilt University and their online classes.
Piecepatcher Quilts--source for the pretty "quilted" calendar pages to be used as wallpapers on your computer; free patterns, EQ files and plenty of inspiration abound
Quiltaholics--lots of nice freebies here for those of us who are addicted; some lessons, a block of the month, a mystery quilt, paper-pieced block patterns and other goodies are available here.

Round the Frame... -- Some quilting lessons, a swap page and an unbelievable list of links are some of the features on this site. Best of all, this is my absolute favorite chat room on the Internet--it's clean, safe and a real resource for quilters of all levels. Do come chat with us!
Quilt Collections -- If you want to know the basics of pattern drafting or color theory as they apply to quilting, this is the page to check out. The graphics are simple, and the directions are precise. There is a subscription fee in order to access all of the block patterns.
Quilter's Haven -- Here's another good block site with some tips and tricks to make your quilting easier. Want to know how to miter corners or piece a Log Cabin block? The info is
right here.
The Quilters Online Resource -- QOR is a subscription page ($15 US/year). Many of the block patterns and all of the clip art can only be downloaded by subscribers. It's a good site, so make
your own decision about subscribing. However, you'll find a message board for Pen Pals, swaps, explanations of various quilt styles/techniques, and quilt art for you desktop which are all free. Quiltzine--Free EQ5 project files are available along with a monthly freebie. There's a wonderful little collection of postcard quilt patterns, and ABC quilt blocks are available free for the printing.

Page -- Last but not least, this is the quilt website which started it all. WWQP has been on the 'Net since 1994. There's a guild finder, show listings, and all kinds of information for new quilters or those learning a new skill. This is where I began my search on the 'Net.
Quilter's Newsletter Magazine--provides a wealth of online freebies--patterns, quilting motifs and articles; subscriptions and back issues are available for purchase online.
McCall's Quilting--subscribe online or look through the oodles of freebies (including an extensive block collection) and web extras available here.
American Patchwork and Quilting--it took a bit of searching, but I finally found the index to their free quilting goodies. You may also subscribe online to the magazine from this site.
Zippy Designs Publishing -- Here's another paper-piecing site. The library of free projects and block patterns requires a free subscriptiong to access. Zippy Designs is also the publisher of Quilts With Style (formerly The Foundation Piecer) magazine which is available as both print and digital subscriptions.
Ladies in Red--lots of free redwork patterns for the printing; designs range from cute to elegant and simple to elaborate.
Pattern Bee--another good source for free redwork patterns; the flowers of the month are especially lovely.

Redwork at Craft Site Directory--a good collection of links on redwork and embroidery, including machine embroidery designs.
CD Designs-- This site is a good place for directions on English paper piecing, freezer paper appliqué, and piecing. You'll also find patterns for sale here, including handy precut patterns for English paper piecing.
eQuilter--wonderful resource for all kinds of fabrics; it's one of my favorite places to look for novelty fabrics.
Fabric Origami Workshop -- Here's a site for something different. They sell detailed patterns for beautiful origami pieces made with fabric--boxes, Christmas ornaments, package toppers and more.
Sundrop Designs--home of the famous Wee Folk; adorable patterns of Pixies, lots of cute critters and lovely flowers, some free and some for sale
Future Heirlooms--home of all the Wee Village houses and buildings for your Wee Folk; there are also other wonderful quilt patterns avaiable as well as free monthly download and newsletter; some block patterns may be purchased via download so that you don't have to wait on the mail.
Hancock's of Paducah--wonderful source for reasonably priced fabrics, notions, and batting; be sure to check out their charm packs. Hancock's has just about everything a quilter could wish for. Shipping prices are modest, and they will ship internationally.
Jinny Beyer Studio--purchase Jinny's fabrics, patterns, kits, videos, and books directly from her. There are weekly specials, Notes from Jinny, and a free Block of the Week.
Paned Expressions--While not really a quilting site, Paned Expressions done truly lovely stained glass designs which would be suitable for appliqué. I like to fuse the pieces into the pattern, then satin-stiched over the edges with a dark gray thread to simulated the leading in actual stained glass. There's a free pattern each month, as well as patterns for purchase. Their pattern CDs are arranged by theme and, while not cheap, are well worth the money. CDs include anywhere from 60-100 original designs. |

Paper Panache -- This is a good resource for the paper-piecer which features original paper-piecing patterns for sale and a nice selection of freebies.
Piece by Number--lovely paper piecing patterns, well worth their modest prices; an extensive collection of past featured block have been archived and may be reached from the current "free block pattern" page.
Planet Patchwork - The Ultimate
Address in Quilting -- This is the only place to buy quilting software--they have a guaranteed low price. There are free BOM and mystery quilts here
as well as book and product reviews, and featured designers.
The Quilted Frog--bright, fun and funky patterns for appliqué; there are some neat bag patterns, designs for punchneedle embroidery, quilt kits, and a nice little freebie.
Sentimental Stitches--hand-embroidery designs and appliqué with an old-fashioned feel; some fabrics are also available. There's a page of nice freebies, too.
Thread Art--another nice site for reasonably priced threads and tools
Threads and More--nifty quilting tools and various supplies at reasonable prices; a source for the elusive "Aunty Becky"; shipping only to the US and Canada.
Victoriana Quilters--some nice freebies here--quilting designs, Block of the Month, a library of techniques and patterns, and a charity quilt among other things; a modest membership fee opens up a section of free original quilt patterns.
